Major Craig McQueen

Major Craig E. McQueen was hired by the City of Miami Police Department in 1981. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration – Cum Laude from Florida International University. 

He also attended the FBI- National Academy Session #188 and Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) PERF-Executive Strategic Management-Session #31 Boston University- Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government. He served in the following assignments, Special Investigations Section/Organized Crime & Terrorism Section, Specialized Operations Section, Patrol District, Recruitment and Selection Unit, Criminal Investigations Tactical Apprehension Team, Training Unit, Communications Unit, Traffic Enforcement (Motors and Investigations) and Community Relations.

Major McQueen’s hobbies are basketball, flag football, softball, and golf; he has represented the department at the annual police Olympics winning over 50 medals. His passion for youth involvement was the driving force when he created a youth tackle football and cheer program while assigned the Community Relations Section. Major McQueen stated that he want a place where kids can be kids without the negative influences being present, which was birth of the MPD-PAL-JETS and now the MIAMI-YOUTH HURRICANES tackle football programs. 

Major McQueen has over twenty years of coaching experience and he is very active in the community when it comes to youth protection and involvement. Major McQueen was the President of the Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner League for 9 years. Now Retired as of March 2016 after 35 years of a distinguished career.
